Jason is primarily involved in providing business valuation and litigation support services to law firms, private and public companies as well as non-profit organizations and individuals. Services include rendering of conclusions on the value of businesses and intellectual property for various purposes (including tax planning, corporate reorganizations, purchase or sale of a business, etc.) as well as the quantification of economic damages in commercial and shareholder disputes. Jason also assists counsel with the review and critique of opposing expert reports on damages. Jason has testified before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice as an expert witness in damages quantification and has participated as an expert in business valuations at both mediation and arbitration in shareholder dispute matters.
Jason has published an article regarding “Damages in Breach of Tender” in the Law Times and lectured to various members of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators (CIBV) regarding damages quantification issues and methodologies in breach of tender cases in the field of construction damages.
Jason has presented seminars to lawyers on “Quantification of Damages in Securities Litigation” and “Reviewing and Critiquing an Expert Report on Damages”. He has also presented an information session on business valuation issues at in-house training sessions for a business brokerage firm.
Jason has been actively involved with the CICBV as a member of the Other Communications Task Force and a past member of the Toronto Workshop and Eastern Conference Committee.
Jason has actively participated in mock trial settings as an expert witness in business valuations and litigation accounting matters to various law firms as well as The National Institute of Trial Advocacy training session at the University of Toronto and The University of Toronto Trial Advocacy Program.
